In this modern day spin on Leroux’s gothic tale of unrequited love turned to madness, seventeen-year-old Rune Germain has a mysterious affliction linked to her operatic talent, and a horrifying mistake she’s trying to hide. Hoping creative direction will help her, Rune’s mother sends her to a French arts conservatory for her senior year, located in an opera house rumored to have ties to The Phantom of the Opera.

At RoseBlood, Rune secretly befriends the masked Thorn—an elusive violinist who not only guides her musical transformation through dreams that seem more real than reality itself, but somehow knows who she is behind her own masks. As the two discover an otherworldly connection and a soul-deep romance blossoms, Thorn’s dark agenda comes to light and he’s forced to make a deadly choice: lead Rune to her destruction, or face the wrath of the phantom who has haunted the opera house for a century, and is the only father he’s ever known.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A.G. Howard was inspired to write SPLINTERED while working at a school library. She always wondered what would've happened had the subtle creepiness of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland taken center stage, and she hopes her darker and funkier tribute to Carroll will inspire readers to seek out the stories that won her heart as a child.

When she's not writing, A.G.'s pastimes are reading, rollerblading, gardening, and family vacations which often include impromptu side trips to 18th century graveyards or condemned schoolhouses to appease her overactive muse.

Top Ten 2016 Releases We Meant To Read But Didn't Get To (But TOTALLY Plan To) / Top Ten Tuesday #65

Hello and welcome to this week's Top Ten Tuesday! This week's topic is Top Ten 2016 Releases We Meant To Read But Didn't Get To (But TOTALLY Plan To). My previous Top Ten Tuesday post was, Top Ten Best Books of 2016.

I love a new year. It's a new slate, a clean piece of paper where the possibilities are endless, reading lists seem never ending, and my goal is to read all of that year's newest releases I couldn't wait to get my hands. Than reality sets in, and I realize that sometimes there's just not enough time in the day to read all the books. Hence, my list of some of this last year's books I didn't have a chance to read, but will be reading this year.
  1. And I Darken by Kiersten White
  2. The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead
  3. Court of Fives / Poisoned Blade by Kate Elliott
  4. A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro
  5. Sword and Verse by Kathy MacMillan
  6. Assassin's Heart by Sarah Ahiers
  7. The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine
  8. Lock & Mori: Mind Games by Heather Petty
  9. Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson
  10. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
I also want to add a list of a few books that I loved promoting on the blog in 2016, but I either didn't get a chance to post my review on the blog, or I need to finish reading the book, or re-read it to write up my review. Sometimes my reading appetite is bigger than the time I have to work on reviews. I'll be posting reviews shortly for these, aka, a few of my most anticipated 2016 releases:

What are some of the books you didn't read in 2016, but plan on reading in 2017? Are there any books you read in 2016, that you didn't get a chance to review?
