THE BOOK JUMPER by Mechthild Glaser / Blog Tour: Book Review

Hello and welcome to today's THE BOOK JUMPER blog tour stop. I am so thrilled to be apart of this tour. This book is one I really enjoyed. I love the concept of jumping into a story. Let's be honest, who wouldn't want to do that. Before I talk about which book I'd love to jump into, here's a little bit about the book:

Amy Lennox doesn't know quite what to expect when she and her mother pick up and leave Germany for Scotland, heading to her mother's childhood home of Lennox House on the island of Stormsay.
Amy's grandmother, Lady Mairead, insists that Amy must read while she resides at Lennox House—but not in the usual way. It turns out that Amy is a book jumper, able to leap into a story and interact with the world inside. As thrilling as Amy's new power is, it also brings danger: someone is stealing from the books she visits, and that person may be after her life. Teaming up with fellow book jumper Will, Amy vows to get to the bottom of the thefts—at whatever cost.
I absolutely love the concept of this book. I've often times thought about how cool it would be to have the power and possibility to literally jump into the story you're reading. Glaser does a great job at creating a story where you wish you could have Amy's same power, and literally jump into books.

Amy Lennox has had her fair share of problems, but her move with her mother from their home in Germany to her mother's childhood home in Scotland is a chance for escape and a fresh start. What she wasn't prepared for, is something that seems completely impossible.

Amy discovers she has the power to jump into books. It's not a power that comes lightly. Amy's suppose to make sure that everything in each book she's assigned, keeps it's order. That's easier said than done. Especially when someone else is creating chaos by jumping into the books and stealing things. Now Amy, along with the help of Will, a fellow book jumper, have to figure out who's behind it all before things get worse.

This book was such a fun read. The setting is awesome. Or should I say settings. Not only did I love the Scotland setting, I enjoyed each individual story's setting that Amy visits. I liked getting to see all the different stories, and the characters interaction with Amy and Will.

I also liked Amy and Will. Sure the character development could have been a little stronger, and there were some predictable plot twists, but I didn't feel like that hindered by ability to like these two characters. It was easy for me to root them on in their story jumping adventures.

Like all adventures, they have to come to an end. This ending was NOT what I was excepting. I'm torn on whether I want to say I love it, or... you didn't think I'd spoil it for did you? I won't. It's good in the fact that it wasn't what I excepted. I do hope that we'll get a sequel.

Over all, this was a quick entertaining read. I liked that even though there are some slow parts, and unanswered questions I was really hoping would get answered, this book was still just a fun read. I didn't feel like I got hung up on the things that bugged me, because there was much more to this story that I did enjoy.  Can we talk about this cover for a minute? I LOVE this cover. It compliments this book perfectly. Yes, I would have totally picked up this book based on the cover alone.

If you're looking for a fun, fast read that includes a variety of stories, a little bit of romance, adventure, and will leave you wishing you could jump into books like Amy does, than pick up this book.

Favorite quote:

"Stories were strange things. One minute they were over; the next minute you simply turned back to the begin and everything began again."

Today's stop posses the question, WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU JUMP INTO?

This is a tough question for me, because there are so many books I want to jump into. Which really, that's the beauty of reading. For that time, you get to escape into the world you're reading about. I love that. For today's tour stop, I had to choose one book. I went with a classic, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA

Who doesn't want to open a closet door and walk through to a forest to enter Narnia? Since reading this book in 3rd grade, I have always wanted a closet that would whisk me away to Narnia, and as well as many other places. Why Narnia?

This book has a little bit everything in it. There's adventure, action, love, friendship, bravery, magic, and strong characters who grow into some unlikely heroes, no to mention the slew of outstanding characters. Not to mention, Aslan #ForAslan (that was for Sophie). I love the fantasy elements, free will, good vs evil, and the impossible becoming possible.

There's something about Narnia that will always call to me. I don't know if it's because this was the first book I really fell in love reading as a kid, or the fact that this was the first book that really made me understand the concept of storytelling, and the art of being whisked away into a world that literally comes to life within the pages of a book.

How cool would it be to stumble into a book, where you literally become part of the story? Which book would you want to jump into?
