Jennifer Anne Davis's best-selling True Reign series captivated readers from the very first page. Now, get ready to become entangled in the follow-up series, Reign of Secrets. In this new series, follow Allyssa, the daughter of the beloved Emperor Darmik and Empress Rema— and find out what happens after happily ever after.

Seventeen-year-old Allyssa appears to be the ideal princess of Emperion—she’s beautiful, elegant, and refined. She spends her days locked in a suffocating cage, otherwise known as royal court. But at night, Allyssa uses her secret persona—that of a vigilante—to hunt down criminals and help her people firsthand.

Unfortunately, her nightly escapades will have to wait because the citizens of Emperion may need saving from something much bigger than common criminals. War is encroaching on their country and in order to protect her people, Allyssa may have to sacrifice her heart. Forced to entertain an alliance through marriage with a handsome prince from a neighboring kingdom, she finds herself feeling even more stifled than before. To make matters worse, the prince has stuck his nosy squire, Jarvik, to watch her every move.

Jarvik is infuriating, bossy and unfortunately, the only person she can turn to when she unveils a heinous plot. Together, the unlikely pair will have to work together to stop an enemy that everyone thought was long gone, one with the power to destroy her family and the people of Emperion. Now the cage Allyssa so longed to break free from might just be the one thing she has to fight to keep intact. In order to save her kingdom, she will have to sacrifice her freedom, her heart, and maybe even her life.
Oh this book!! I am seriously on a book hang over from it. That may have to do with the fact that I had to read the ending three times, because it was that good, and not at all what I was excepting. Please make sure you read Jennifer's introduction at the beginning of her book, because she gives her readers a warning about how her book will end. Yes, it's a killer of an ending, and oh so good. This book is awesome!

It's been awhile since I stayed up way past my bedtime time reading a book that was impossible to put down. Cage of Deceit was totally worth the sleep I lost. I couldn't stop reading this book. Jennifer Anne Davis has created a story that has it all. Suspense, heart pounding action, an intriguing world, characters that I loved, twists and turns, and a romance that was, well, my kind of romance. This book was addicting. I couldn't stop reading it. It's a little swoon worthy, has the right amount of tension that kept me glued to the pages, and the kind of character banter I love.

There is not one thing negative I have to say about this book. I loved the story telling. I loved the world building. I loved each of the characters, and enjoyed getting to know them through out the story. I loved this book's family dynamics, and the friendships. Loyalty is a big part of the the friendships, and family relationships in this book. I also loved that Allyssa's parents weren't absentee parents. They're very much apart of her story. Now that I've gotten to know them, I've got to go read the series before this one, to get to know them better.

This book is made of Girl Power! Allyssa is the type of girl I love! She knows how to take care of herself, can defend herself, doesn't take crap from anyone, and when she needs it, she's not afraid to ask for her help. I love it when girls don't act like a damsel in distress, and at the same time, don't act like they can do everything on their one either. Allyssa knows her limits, but she's also not afraid to push herself. I not only loved Princess Allyssa, and the fact that she goes against the stereotypical princess norm. I loved that her parents encouraged her to be her own self. I also love that while Allyssa has a duty to her kingdom, her parents don't force her to do things she doesn't want to do. She has a choice, even if her choices aren't her first choices.

The romance is awesome! It's one that's more of slow burning kind, but my kind of romance none the less. Just in case you're wondering, no it is not a love at first site kind (thankfully). It was quite the opposite, which is what made it so good. The banter between the two main love interests is great! Watching them fall for each other was even better. Thank you Jennifer for not writing a forced love triangle. I liked that there's the love between friends and then there's the falling in love of the characters. The two different loves are very distinct and well written. I liked that just because Allyssa had guy friends, and close ones at that, didn't mean she had to be romantically linked to them. Their friendships were great.

I loved the action in this book. Allyssa can kick some butt! There are also some great twists and turns in this book. Yes some of them are totally predictable, but the story itself is so well written, that it didn't bother me. The deception, the suspense, and the danger is well paced through out the story. Oh, andnd that killer ending! I NEED MORE! Jennifer Anne Davis's CAGE OF DECEIT has a new home on my coveted all time favorite bookshelves. Not many books make the cut, this is is a book I want more of. I need this book's sequel like now! I'll definitely be picking up more of Jennifer's books.

Excerpt
From Chapter One

Running along the edge of the rooftop, Allyssa kept an eye on the man below. He was three blocks ahead of her as he sprinted down the street, clutching a bag of coins. Allyssa jumped the two-foot gap to the adjacent rooftop, not wanting to lose sight of the thief. He slowed and turned a corner into an alleyway. With any luck, he’d hide there and she could catch him by surprise.
Allyssa couldn’t believe she was the one running on rooftops after him. Grevik had insisted only she could do such a thing because she was smaller, lighter, and more agile. She suspected her friend was just too much of a pansy to do it himself.
There was one more building to go. Unfortunately, the next one was much further away. If she had to guess, it was a good eight to ten feet. Keeping her breathing steady, she steeled her resolve and ran a bit quicker. She pumped her legs faster and faster, the edge of the rooftop rapidly approaching. Twenty feet to go. Why did she agree to this? Focus, she scolded herself. Now was not the time to think about it. Ten feet to go. Here goes nothing.
