She thought she’d lost everything . . .
After spending months traveling the harsh, unforgiving Mesopotamian desert, Jayden reunites with a broken, injured Kadesh. Although everyone was convinced the violent and unpredictable Horeb, Jayden’s betrothed, killed the handsome prince, Jayden knew in her heart that her love was alive and safe. But their reunion is short-lived, as they learn Horeb is on their trail and determined to take back the girl he has claimed. Soon, the two star-crossed lovers are on the run toward Sariba, Kadesh’s homeland, where, as heir to the Kingdom, he plans to make Jayden his princess.
But the trek to Sariba is fraught with heartache and danger. After narrowly escaping being stoned to death for a crime she didn’t commit, and learning that her sister has disappeared, Jayden’s only solace is her love for Kadesh. But even he is keeping secrets from her . . . secrets that will change everything.
This gorgeous and enchanting sequel to Forbidden, is full of love, danger, and heated passion that will leave readers breathless.

What kind of research did you do when writing this novel?

I’ve spent at least 15 years reading about the tribes of Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, ancient Babylon as well as the customs, food, climate, geography, tribal warfare, swords/weapons, tents, camels, belly dancing, goddess temples, etc. You should see my stack of books!

When I discovered that in 1759 BCE King Hammurabi sacked the city of Mari on the Euphrates River and put it under siege, eventually burning the palace of the current king, I knew that was the year and historical backdrop I wanted to use. The city of Mari was this amazing circular city on the banks of the river with canals and dams and indoor plumbing, too. They were very sophisticated for 4,000 years ago with a lot of commerce and farming.

About Kimberly Griffiths

Kimberley Griffiths Little grew up in San Francisco, but now lives in an adobe house on the banks of the Rio Grande with her chaotic, messy family. She’s drunk so much Land of Enchantment water that some of that ancient magic got into her blood and now spurts out her pencil—um, ergonomic keyboard.
Kimberley has slept in the haunted tower room at Borthwick Castle in Scotland, sailed the Seine in Paris, walked the beaches of Normandy, ridden a camel in Petra, shopped the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, and spent the night in an old Communist hotel in Bulgaria.

P.S. She also writes award-winning middle-grade novels with Scholastic. :-)

Shadowhunters TV Casting News: Jade Hassouné Has Been Cast as Meliorn!

We've got more casting news! ABC Family confirmed today that Jade Hassoune has been cast as Meliorn. Welcome to the TMI family Jade!

Fans of the books series will be familiar with Meliorn. He is the Seelie Queen's personal KNIGHT. Just to clarify, the Seelie court is a division of faeries, along with the Unseelie Court, whom are lead by the Seelie Court Queen. I'm not sure how much of this will be changed around in the TV series, as below in the official press release, ABC Family says Meliorn is a Seelie.... not sure what that is. I'm guessing they've slightly changed things from the books.

When asked if Cassie had seen the audition for Meliorn, she confirmed that, "She didn't see an audition. She is curious about what part Meliorn will play in the show." I'm really curious as well. Don't get me wrong, I love this casting choice. The TV cast keeps getting better and better. I like that we're getting actors/actresses that up until now may not have been household names, but after the show is out, I'm guessing a lot of people will know exactly who they are. Below, ABC Family confirmed that this will be a reoccurring role. I'm wondering if we'll get to see a little Izzy and Meliorn history, or if he'll be playing a much different role in the TV series than he did in the book series.

While the pictures of the cast and the set have got us excited about the series, I really wish we were allowed to see pictures of the script. haha. Or you know read the final script. lol There's so much potential for the TV series, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the series storyline bring a lot of the book storyline to life. Huge kudos to the cast! The TV cast in my opinion looks great! I love that they've taken the time out of their schedules to interact with fans on social media.

ABC FAMILY'S OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

ABC FAMILY HAS CAST JADE HASSOUNÉ AS MELIORN
FOR THE SAGA SERIES “SHADOWHUNTERS”

Burbank, CA (June 16, 2015) – ABC Family has cast Jade HassounĂ© (“Cyberbully”) as Meliorn. It was announced today by the network. Hassoune will be a recurring guest star on the series.

Based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, “Shadowhunters” follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother, Jocelyn, is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.
Meliorn, a handsome and elegant fairy, also known as a Seelie, is a creature that is equal parts angel and demon.

“Shadowhunters” is produced by Constantin Film and executive produced by Ed Decter and McG. McG will also direct the first episode. The network has previously announced Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood for the role of Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway and Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane.

Pictures from the Shadowhunters TV Set: Jace and Clary Enter The City of Bones

Jace and Clary enter the CITY OF BONES! Yesterday Shadowhunter fans were treated to two pictures from the set of Shadowhunters TV. Both Ed Decter, and Kat McNamara (who plays Clary), shared pictures of Jace and Clary entering the City of Bones. From the looks of things, it's definitely a bit freaky.

Ed Decter shared this picture of Jace & Clary in the City of Bones with the caption, "Things getting dark for Clare?", here

Kat shared this picture of her and Jace (played by Dominic Sherwood), here.

One of the things I liked about The Mortal Instruments movie was how the City of Bones was done. It will be interesting to see how they depict the City of Bones for the TV series. Either way, I can't wait to see this series when it airs in early 2016.
