City of Lost Souls Read-A-Long: Chapter 17

Hello & welcome to day #17 of our City of Lost Souls Read-A-Long. You can find out more about the read along and find the schedule here. There is no right or wrong way to participate. Your comments can be as long or as short as you'd like them to be.

Today's discussion is about the Chapter 17: Valediction

Chapter 17
  • Alec has become my least character in this book because of the fact he is on the verge of betraying Magnus, and wants to selfishly change Magnus. I was surprised at how my my heart broke for him in this chapter when he talks about his struggles after his coming out, and how his dad and the Clave still treat him differently. I loved that Izzy wants to protect him. Did you feel the same way? What were your thoughts during that scene?
  • Aww! Jace and Clary. I LOVED that scene with the real Jace and Clary. I've missed the real Jace. Do you think it will be possible for the real Jace to come back again?
  • Wow... Lilith huh?! I was hoping she was going to be dead forever after what Simon did to her. Are you surprised about the discovery that Sebastian is trying to raise her up, and that similar to his father, he wants all the power, unlike Valentine, he wants to rule the Demon side?
Please DO NOT POST SPOILERS. There's some fans who are joining the read-a-long who are reading Clockwork Prince for the first time.
