War between heaven and hell is coming, but Dante Walker makes it look damn good.

Dante’s girlfriend, Charlie, is fated to save the world. And Aspen, the girl who feels like a sister, is an ordained soldier. In order to help both fulfill their destiny and win the war, Dante must complete liberator training at the Hive, rescue Aspen from hell, and uncover a message hidden on an ancient scroll.

Dante is built for battle, but even he can’t handle the nightmares where spiders crawl from Aspen’s eyes, or the look on Charlie’s face that foretells of devastation. To make matters worse, the enemy seizes every opportunity to break inside the Hive and cripple the liberators. But the day of reckoning is fast approaching, and to stand victorious, Dante will have to embrace something inside himself he never has before—faith.

The Warrior is a thrilling, suspenseful, action packed end to the Dante Walker series. Brimming with plenty of Dante Walker mouthiness, swoon worthy scenes, and an epic battle, this is a series ender that rocked. Victoria Scott pulled out all the stops in this book. With shocking secrets, betrayals, character deaths, and plenty of surprises, The Warrior wraps up Dante's story perfectly, and in the most fitting way possible.

With War on the horizon, Dante has to figure out his game plan with preparing and keeping those he loves safe, as well as making sure this a battle that ends in his favor. Everything is at stake, and the sides are drawn- The Collectors, Liberators, Humans, and even the big man from Hell itself will be apart of this fight. As everyone comes together in this epic battle that's been written and prophesied about, Dante not only has to keep Charlie safe, he has to figure out a way to save Aspen. Let's just say Dante becomes the epic Warrior. In order to become that, he does something that will definitely surprise fans.

Dante Walker rocked in this book. He's still the same old egotistical, say it how it is, fiercely protective, loyal character fans have come to love. As the series draws to an end with The Warrior, we see just how much Dante has grown as a character through out the entire series. Don't worry, Dante still banters, and says things that make me laugh, but there's a maturity to him now that I don't think was as dominant in the previous two books, as it was in this one. Through all that happens in this book, Dante does a lot of self reflection, and comes to terms with the choices he's made, and where he's at now. I like that he owned up to how he used to be, compared to the guy he is now. I couldn't help but love that vulnerability he has.

Dante's story wouldn't what it is without some fabulous character who have all played a big role in this book, including Charlie. Charlie was awesome in this book! She becomes this fierce amazing Warrior that matches the Warrior that Dante becomes. Her transformation rocked! I loved getting to see Dante's reflection on his feelings for her, and how much they've both changed from their first meeting to now. Charlie proves that like Dante, she can take care of herself, just as much as Dante can. This was a great ending to Dante and Charlie's story.

Here I sit on the Dark Throne just as Brighid had prophesized. She knew all along what I would come to be. The crown heavy from the weight of the black crystals rests effortlessly on my head. Once I chose the dark it consumed my light swiftly, the energy surging through my veins as if it knew no other way. Like I had never been anything different.
To celebrate my transformation, I had myself branded with an ancient symbol of the Dark, the black lines drawn carefully on my upper left arm, a permanent reminder of who and what I was.
My subjects kneeled before me, some pleased with my triumph and others fearful of my power. They each knew what I had done to my father. They saw me crush him into nothing. Banish him into a prison that he himself had banished thousands of others before. And I did it all without remorse, without consequence, without thought.
And more than anything, I had enjoyed it.
I thought back to the day when Alderon had taken Caroline. The fury had engulfed me, moving through my being like rolling thunder. All I could think of was how afraid she must be. And her safety. The girl that had been cruelly brought into the danger of my world. I wouldn’t allow it. Not for her. Never for her.
Caroline.
Every day.
Every minute.
Every second.
She was in my blood. Just as the dark coursed through my veins, my desire for Caroline moved through me. When I turned my back on her and left, the feeling of loss that overcame me was nearly my undoing. The longing I had for her. To hold her. Touch her. Feel her light. It was beyond any desire that I had ever known. But that desire was a constant reminder of my struggle. There was no hope for us. No promise of tomorrow. Not when I knew the risks far outweighed the reward.
I needed to contain my feelings with the same strength and fortitude I had utilized in the months past. I hoped that it would be much easier now, especially since I had finally embraced the dark. Since taking the throne I had done everything I could to avoid Caroline, but I knew deep down that the time would come again when I wouldn’t be able to anymore. I knew I couldn’t be with her, but I also knew that at some point I would be drawn to her like an addict.
But not today.
Today I would focus on the battles I had won and the war that was erupting within me.
As I walked the halls in the palace of the Dark Fae, I looked around my new home with apathy. The cold stones were pitch black but emitted an energy that any human would find enticing and strangely calming. I had erased any trace of Alderon, even though my very being was confirmation enough that he controlled me.

Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.

Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.

So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. The City of Lost Souls Read-A-Long: Chapters 5 & 6

Hello & welcome to day #5 of our City of Lost Souls Read-A-Long. You can find out more about the read along and find the schedule here. There is no right or wrong way to participate. Your comments can be as long or as short as you'd like them to be.

Today's discussion is about the Chapter 5: Valentine's Son   / Chapter 6: No Weapon In This World
  • Chapter 5 - Well that was an interesting chapter. My elation over Jace being back was short lives when Sebastian entered Clary's room. Jace was still Jace, but he was also totally off. We learn that Jace and Sebastian are tied together, and whatever happens to one, happens to the other. Because of the attack on Luke, Clary is forced to leave the home she shares with him, and her mother. Jocelyn said that like Valentine came for her, Jace would be back for Clary. Do you think that's true? Why would he want to take her with him?
  • Chapter 6 - Alec makes an interesting point about what he feels about Jace, being his parabatai. He said things felt different. Not that Jace was dead, but it felt like he wasn't "here". As in not himself. We know from Chapter 5 Jace wasn't himself. Do you think being possessed with forever change Jace?
  • What do you make of Raphael's threat to Simon over his mark?
  • I love the Jordan, Clary, Isabelle scene. I never excepted to see this side of Izzy. So vulnerable and unsure. Do you think Maia & Jordan, Jace & Clary, Izzy & Simon's relationships will be strong enough to last through all that's about to happen?

Please DO NOT POST SPOILERS. There's some fans who are joining the read-a-long who are reading Clockwork Prince for the first time.
