MORE TMI Movie News!

Well this has definitely become an exciting for us TMI fans! Cassie recently posted more exciting TMI movie news:

Hello, Shadowhunters. :)
And a little bit more for you on the movie. It’s quite a day for us! But it’s hard to underestimate how important a release date is for a film. The only bigger deal is actually starting shooting at which point … you really have a movie.
As I told MTV, Harald (our director, so we might as well all start thinking of him on a first name basis) is putting his production team together. They just hired Francois Seguin  as production designer. Francois is incredibly talented and awesome, just was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the Borgias, and it is his job to make everything look amazing and beautiful. Francois, Harald and the production team are scouting for locations this week … so if you’re in Toronto and/or New York … you might see them searching for the Institute. :)
We have a casting director, too, Stephanie, and there’s a definite concentration on European and British actors for the Shadowhunters, which I like as it underlines the feeling that they are not quite like the culture that surrounds them. That doesn’t apply to Simon of course, so favorites floating around like a certain guy whose name starts with A and another guy whose name starts with L are not off the table. ;)*
*I’m really not supposed to talk about casting. They’ll make me live in a brick igloo. Since everyone is asking me about Playlist saying Jamie isn’t attached, they have been saying that for a while. I do not know why. It isn’t what I have heard, and that is honestly all I know.

What you guys think? I'm thrilled about the news that they're casting for all the parts! YES, Lilly and Jamie are both tied to the movie as Cassie previously posted, and both actors have recently mentioned in interviews at various movie premieres.

Latest City of Bones Movie News

Whoosh went our Google alert as the news hit about "City of Bones" latest movie news. You can read the article here on indiewire in its entirety.

What I like is Cassie's response to it on her tumblr here & here:
The main thing that is confirmed truth here is that Sony/Screen Gems is distributing The Mortal Instruments movie, and the release date is set for August 23, 2013. I’ve seen people say “That’s so far off!” but as the article says “That gives new director Harald Zwart a little over a year and four months to cast, prep, shoot and edit “The Mortal Instruments.” It really isn’t that much time — at all!

“Expect casting notices for “The Mortal Instruments” to drop soon” is I imagine what everyone will instantly fixate on. :D As for the part about Jamie, what I know is that they’re in negotations about his contract. That’s it, that’s all I know. You can ask me till you’re blue like a Smurf and I won’t know more. :)

[And if you’re excited about the movie, tell them in the comments! It makes the movie people happy and happy movie people work faster. :D)] And be happy. You’ve been waiting ages and things are happening and that is good.

Book Review: Destined by Aprilynne Pike

Published by: Harper Teen
To Be Released on: May 1st, 2012

4 stars: I Really Enjoyed It
Pre-Order from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Laurel now knows the truth: Yuki is a rare Winter faerie, the most powerful—and deadly—of all, and she is working with Klea to conquer and destroy Avalon. With Tamani, David, and Chelsea by her side, Laurel prepares for a fight she never thought she would have to face.

Filled with heart-pounding action, sweeping romance, and higher stakes at every turn, Destined is the series conclusion that readers have been clamoring for—with a twist that will leave them breathless. -quoted from Goodreads

It's so hard to say good bye to a series you've grown to love, but let me just say that Aprilynne Pike ended her Wings series on such a bittersweet note. I loved the way she wrapped things up and though some tough choices were made, and I commend her for staying true to the story with everything that happens, including Laurel's choice. There's some great plot twists, shocking revelations and some great swoon worthy scenes between Laurel and.... you'll have to read the book to find out who. I enjoyed the beginning of the book, I felt the middle slowed down the pace of the book just a bit with all the descriptions of what was happening, and I loved the ending. There's an epic battle, lives are lost, tough choices are made, hearts get broken, love grows stronger from some characters and in the end everything comes together in a nice, surprising way.

Though there were some moments that Laurel frustrated me with her decision making in this story, I did like getting to see why she made the decisions she did. I like the way Laurel has grown as a character through out the course of this series. She really steps up to the plate in this book, and FINALLY makes her decision! I seriously wish I could talk about her decision process and why she picked who she did, but that would be one huge spoiler. I'm not a huge fan on love triangles like I used to be when I first started reading YA, but I'm a fan of this particular one. Aprilynne has created two well written characters in Tamani and David that I've come to love as much as Laurel has. They're both fabulous choices, and I really liked the roles they played in this particular book. Both of them totally surprised me with some of their choices and their actions. Honestly, Laurel had a hard choice to make and I love that Aprilynne made her choose.

There are so many little things I want to talk about in my review about DESTINED, but I can't. It would spoil so much. As I mentioned above, I really like the plot twists that Aprilynne threw into the story. It kept me invested with the entire story line. I really enjoyed being back into the fey world that she's created and being able to read about characters that were introduced previously in the series. I did have a hard time staying connected with some parts of this book, because I felt it was overly descriptive with some scenes, but in the end it all weaves together to create an ending that is so fitting for this series. DESTINED is an enjoyable, fast paced, well written conclusion to a fabulous fey series.

I'm looking forward to talking about this book with Wings fans. I can only imagine the conversations that will ensue once everyone reads this and finds out who Laurel choose and why. I will say I loved the added bonus Aprilynne includes at the end of this book. Just know that in some way everyone gets their own ending, well at least one fans get to read about. If that sounds confusing it will make more sense after you read the book. If you're a fan of this series I highly recommend picking up DESTINED when it's out in May!
