Angelique Picks for Brendan

Well, well, well. I get to DJ for the DJ? What an…intriguing…turn of events this is. Can I pick two songs? For me to truly do this justice, I need to pick two songs. See, there's B.E. and A.E.—Before Emma, and After Emma. Trust me, they are two incredibly disparate people.

Before Emma
The first song that comes to mind for the Brendan who existed before Emma is this one:
Honestly, it's the first song that comes to mind, and it's the one I'm going to go with, because Before Emma Brendan doesn't require that much thought.

After Emma
Sigh. If I were to be truly fair about this, I would have to admit that the Brendan who existed Before Emma and the one we know now are the same person, essentially. Except for the obvious fact that this one doesn't have a billion ladies swinging off his tree, and he's a little more approachable, less aloof. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but Brendan is fairly complicated. (I know, right? I thought he was as deep as a pore, but instead he's all torment-y inside. It would make me laugh if he didn't end up confiding in me for some reason. Seriously, how does that keep happening? Pain in the ass, I swear.) Anyway, I've learned that Brendan has one quality that truly does outshine all his annoying ones: He desperately wants to be a good person, someone worthy of Emma. I do think he truly tries to be good—well, what he perceives as being good. I mean, seriously dude. Stop being so quick with the fists!!—but Brendan doesn't always have the faith in himself that he should have. He can be really emo sometimes, I swear.
So, here's my song for him. It's not necessarily how I feel about him, but it accurately depicts how I think he see himself, in relation to Emma particularly. (Like me, he doesn't care what our classmates think of him. I can respect that, I guess.) Ha, if only he know the gilded pedestal he was put on by most of our class.

Finding your eternal soulmate - easy.

Stopping a true-love-hungry evil - not so much… After breaking a centuries-old romantic curse, Emma Connor is (almost) glad to get back to normal problems. Although...it's not easy dealing with the jealous cliques and gossip that rule her exclusive Upper East Side prep, even for a sixteen-year-old newbie witch. Having the most-wanted boy in school as her eternal soul mate sure helps ease the pain-especially since wealthy, rocker-hot Brendan Salinger is very good at staying irresistibly close....

But something dark and hungry is using Emma and Brendan's deepest fears to reveal damaging secrets and destroy their trust in each other. And Emma's crash course in über-spells may not be enough to keep them safe…or to stop an inhuman force bent on making their unsuspected power its own -quoted from Goodreads

Waiting on Wednesday: Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan

Pre-Order from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met . . . a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. She wasn’t silent about her imaginary friend during her childhood, and is thus a bit of an outsider in her sleepy English town of Sorry-in-the-Vale. Still, Kami hasn’t suffered too much from not fitting in. She has a best friend, runs the school newspaper, and is only occasionally caught talking to herself. Her life is in order, just the way she likes it, despite the voice in her head.

But all that changes when the Lynburns return.

The Lynburn family has owned the spectacular and sinister manor that overlooks Sorry-in-the-Vale for centuries. The mysterious twin sisters who abandoned their ancestral home a generation ago are back, along with their teenage sons, Jared and Ash, one of whom is eerily familiar to Kami. Kami is not one to shy away from the unknown—in fact, she’s determined to find answers for all the questions Sorry-in-the- Vale is suddenly posing. Who is responsible for the bloody deeds in the depths of the woods? What is her own mother hiding? And now that her imaginary friend has become a real boy, does she still love him? Does she hate him? Can she trust him? - quoted from Goodreads

I am so excited Sarah has a new series coming out! I can't wait to read this book and meet Kami. What book are you waiting to get your hands on?
