Every other day, Kali D'Angelo is a normal sixteen-year-old girl. She goes to public high school. She attends pep rallies. She's human.

And then every day in between . . .She's something else entirely.

Though she still looks like herself, every twenty-four hours predatory instincts take over and Kali becomes a feared demon-hunter with the undeniable urge to hunt, trap, and kill zombies, hellhounds, and other supernatural creatures. Kali has no idea why she is the way she is, but she gives in to instinct anyway. Even though the government considers it environmental terrorism.

When Kali notices a mark on the lower back of a popular girl at school, she knows instantly that the girl is marked for death by one of these creatures. Kali has twenty-four hours to save her and, unfortunately, she'll have to do it as a human. With the help of a few new friends, Kali takes a risk that her human body might not survive. . .and learns the secrets of her mysterious condition in the process. -quoted from Goodreads

This is an awesome, fast paced, action packed paranormal read and I loved every bit of this book. Jennifer Lynn Barnes has done a fabulous job at creating a unique world were humans and paranormal creatures are aware of each other, and introduces readers to a one kick butt heroine in Kali, the story's main character. Kali is only human every other day, and on those "other" days she's one fierce paranormal killing machine, meaning she hunts down the "bad guys", well guys really isn't the correct term. Thanks to the awesome government and their protection of those scary monsters like hellhounds, and other creatures that go bump in the night, Kali finds herself hunting them down. Kali's something entirely unique, or so you think. In finding out more about Kali and her ability is only part of this story's fascinating twist on this paranormal world.

Aside from this intriguing world are the human characters. I liked that they didn't fall into the normal high school drama club, I mean, there is drama, but the way in which Jennifer weaves high school, the characters, Kali's ability and the paranormal world is really a quite interesting. When you take Kali who's only human every other day, and then becomes friends with the loner Skylar, who I totally loved, and not just because she's physic! Now add in the queen witch and cheerleader Bethany who just so happens to date Elliot, one of Skylar's brothers, and an enemy to Skylar, mix in some fate and you've got one interesting storyline that's about to get a lot more twisted. As in a huge conspiracy that unravels a few secrets and leaves just enough still covered up that makes me wish I had more of this story in my hands.

I seriously loved the trio of Kali, Bethany and Skylar. Despite their differences, they're all loyal to each other, which given all they deal with wasn't surprising to me. I loved that there's much more than meets the eye with all three of the girls. That little bit of fate I mentioned above is called a chupacabra, and from the moment that Kali spots it on Bethany the story kicks into high gear and becomes action backed, twisted and a ton of fun. Not only is the alluring Zev introduced to the story, but Kali becomes entangled with a dangerous world she knew nothing about, and it's one that links to her and a few other of the characters together. Oh wow did I enjoy this story. It's not just the action that I loved, or how awesome Kali is, but I was completely enchanted with the "moments" and I use this term loosely for a reason, between Kali and Zev. That thing between them was just the icing on the cake for me.

This is one fascinating paranormal read I highly recommend picking up! Jennifer's writing is awesome! I know I've used that word one too many times in my review, but I seriously love her writing. Her paranormal world is unlike any of the other ones I've read, and I loved that she incorporates so much into her world without being overly detailed about it. There's plenty of action, the right about of sarcasm/snark, and some sizzling character chemistry. That combination right there is a total win for me. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough while reading Every Other Day. I want more!!! If you're a fan of YA paranormal reads go pick this one up!!
