Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18C. Hadley's in 18A.

Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it -quoted from Goodreads

If you're looking for a book that contains a beautifully written romance to snuggle up with on a cold winters night, than this is your book! This book has all the perfect elements that I look for in a contemporary. There's the unexpected love, the sweet romantic scenes, a little bit of humor, the alluring London setting, a little bit of heart ache and two fabulously flawed characters I loved getting to know. The entire book was a pleasant surprise and I love it when a book leaves me both satisfied and wanting more all at the same time. If you don't believe in love at first sight, then you might be surprised with The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. This book might be the very thing that will turn you into a believer. After all, it only took 4 mins to make Hadley one.

Being 4 mins late to the airport, an already frustrated Hadley has just missed her flight to London to attend her father's wedding. Not that she was all that excited to attend it in the first place. After all, I couldn't blame her. She's never met the women her father left her mother and her for. It's during her time here at the airport she meets the dashing Oliver. Lucky girl! Not only is he charming, good looking, and a funny, but he's British and he'll be sitting right next to her on their 7 hour flight to London. Sounds dreamy doesn't it? I for one fell in love with him during this time. Oliver is an entire package of awesomeness. There's something about him that made me fall in love with his character at the same time Hadley did. Oliver's not the only one who steals the show, there's something about Hadley that makes her so easy to love. Both Hadley and Oliver are relatable. They're a little broken, a little sarcastic, witty, and they both of this quality about them that lures me to them.

Their romance is so beautifully written. It's intoxicating, blissful, and a real breath of fresh air. It's one of those romances that will have you sighing and may even give you the urge to go "hang out" at the airport, or catch a flight to London in hopes of sitting next to your own Oliver. One of the things I loved about this book is everything that happens is done over the course of exactly 24 hours. It only took Hadley 24 hours to mend a broken relationship with her father, realize that her new stepmother is nothing like she imagined, that love is real, life goes on and love at first sight really does happen. This book is more than a beautiful love story, it's about life, family connections, love and learning to let go of your fears. I highly recommend picking this book up!

Now I'd like to introduce you to Hadley.

Hi Hadley! Thank you so much for being on Mundie Moms today. I'm thrilled to introduce you to our readers. Do you mind telling us a little bit about yourself?

Of course! I’m seventeen, and I live in Connecticut with my mom. My parents are divorced, and my dad now lives in England, which has been tough. A few months ago, I broke up with my first real boyfriend. But then I met Oliver on a flight from New York to London, and everything changed…

How would you describe THE STATISTICAL PROBABILITY OF LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT in 5 words or less?

The longest 24 hours ever.

Before you began your trip to London, did you believe in love at first sight, or think that someone could fall in love with someone after a brief encounter?

Not at all. I always thought that was the kind of thing that only happened in fairy tales. I’ve never been so happy to be wrong about something…

I'll admit, I love how you and Oliver met. What was your first impression of Oliver?

He offered to help me with my bags, which was really sweet, and I thought he was cute, though in a rumpled sort of way. He had crumbs on his shirt, and his hair was sticking up, and his smile was crooked. But he made me nervous in the best possible way, and I just had this feeling that he was somebody worth getting to know.

How do you think you've personally changed over the course of meeting Oliver and going to London?

It’s amazing how much can happen in one day. When I woke up that morning, I was anxious and miserable and just generally grumpy. Everything seemed to be going wrong, and the last thing I wanted to do was fly to London for my father’s wedding. But then I met Oliver, and just like that, everything changed. He was there for me right from the beginning. He helped calm me down, and he helped me see what was important. I don’t know how the day might have unfolded if it hadn’t been for him. Twenty-four hours doesn’t seem like enough to set you on an entirely different course. But for me, that’s all it took.

What's something you'd like Mundie Moms to know about you, that we don't learn in your story?

I think maybe I’d like to be a teacher one day. My dad’s a professor of poetry, which isn’t exactly my thing, but I’ve always been a big reader because of him, and I’m thinking that one day I might like to be an English teacher. But that’s still a long way off. And who knows what’ll happen in college. I mean, look at Oliver – he’s studying about a dozen different subjects at Yale. (Or so he says…)

If you could go back and change anything from the first time you met Oliver, would you?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that even the most seemingly insignificant events can have a huge impact. If I hadn’t missed my flight by four minutes, I might not have met Oliver at all. It doesn’t take a whole lot to affect the course of events; the smallest moments can have the biggest ripple effects. Fate is funny that way. So I wouldn’t change a thing.

What's your favorite thing about Oliver that maybe no one else knows about him?

That he talks in his sleep. Every time he nodded off on the plane, he would mumble under his breath. It was all gibberish, but it made me laugh, listening to him talk so earnestly about how many watermelons he needed to buy or how much he loved kangaroos while he was sound asleep.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I’ll have just graduated college, so it’s hard to say. Maybe I’ll be living in New York City, or maybe I’ll be in London. If there’s anything I’ve learned from today, it’s that twenty-four hours is a long time. Five years? That’s 1,835 days. It’s 43,800 hours. A lot can happen in all that time, so it’s hard to tell where I’ll be. But I’m excited to find out.

Mundane Monday #117

Happy Mundane Monday! I hope you're all recovering from this weekend's New Year celebrations. There's nothing like a little Jace & Clary moment to start our mornings off on the right note....

" There is no pretending," Jace said with absolute clarity. "I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there's a life after that, I'll love you then too."
