City of Lost Souls Teaser

Dear Cassie,

THANK YOU for this fabulous early Christmas present. Jace didn't even to wrapped or topped with a red bow. The vaulting part of this gift and the black/gold eyes was the icing on the cake.

Love,

Katie and the rest of the Mundie Moms

YES! Our TMI girls are kicking butt in the Heroines Tournament! Now that Clary won her match and it advancing, Cassie has treated fans to an awesome Jace & Clary COLS teaser. Here's what Cassie said:

Clary won her Tournament of Heroines match, which means she advances from the Superior Sixteen. There’ll be more voting rounds after Christmas, but for now, it’s relaxing time and a teaser from City of Lost Souls. I did a poll over on twitter and needless to say “Clary/Jace” won by a long shot. I should remind myself not to be surprised!

Jace vaulted over the counter in a single movement, landing beside Clary. He knelt down and pulled her close, running his hands over her, his eyes black-gold with concern. She caught at his wrists.

“I’m all right,” she said. Her heart was pounding, her blood still singing in her veins. He opened his mouth to say something but she leaned forward and put her hands on either side of his face, her nails digging in. “I feel good,” she said, and kissed him, fierce and hard, and he kissed her back, rumpled and sweaty and bloody, and she tasted salt in her mouth though she didn’t know if it was his blood or hers.

2011 Mundie Moms Favorites Series: Interview & Giveaway with Bennett from Surrender

As part of our 2011 Mundie Moms Favorites series, we recently we had the chance to ask one of our favorite (I believe he's at the tippy top of Sophie's list) characters, Bennet from the Haunting Emma series one question.

Hi Bennett. Intriguing mind would love to know what is one of the applications and one of the songs you put on Emma's iphone in Surrender?

"Blindfold by Morcheeba--I like the lyrics. And I loaded this stick-figure game where you dig holes to bury zombies. Although, I probably should've picked something less violent and suggestive. Next thing you know, Emma will be summoning zombie ghosts."

Thank you Bennett for answering our question. Here's the video to the song Blindfold:

2011 Mundie Moms Favorites: Series from Established Authors

It's day 4 of 2011 Mundie Moms Favorites and today we're featuring our favorite books from an established series. This year there were a ton of awesome books in a series. It was a little hard narrowing our list down to only 22. Why 22 and not just 10? As I mentioned in a our Debs/New Series post, normally we do a top 10 list, but having read over 250 books this year, it was too hard for me to list 10 favorites. Instead, Sophie and I created a list of our top 24 favorite books from an established series.

I don't think it will be any surprise at the books that grace our 1st choice:
  1. Clockwork Prince & City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
  2. The Iron Queen & The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa
  3. Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer
  4. Red Glove by Holly Black
  5. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
  6. Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
  7. Betrayal & Surrender by Lee Nichols
  8. The Dark & Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan
  9. Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins
  10. HEREAFTER by Tara Hudson
  11. Circle of Fire by Michelle Zink
  12. Supernaturally by Kiersten White
  13. Vanish by Sophie Jordan
  14. Illusions by Aprilynne Pike
  15. Tiger's Quest by Colleen Houck
  16. The Eternal Sea by Angie Frazier
  17. Desires of the Dead by Kimberly Derting
  18. The Demon's Surrender by Sarah Rees Brennan
  19. Blood Solstice by Samantha Young
  20. Dark Goddess by Sarwat Chadda
  21. Crossed by Ally Condie
  22. Trial by Fire by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
  23. Shadowspell by Jenna Black
  24. Secrets & Shadows by Shannon Delany

The hard thing about a list is that we always feel we leave books off the list that we enjoyed, but we have to draw the line somewhere or this post wouldn't end. The selected books are ones that we rated 4.5-5 stars, and from that selection we choose books that stood out the most to us. Each link will take you to our review here on the blog.

Along with this list we also wanted to list some of our favorite series that ended this year (sniff, sniff) We felt they needed a proper farewell.... luckily we have these books on our shelves so we can sit and read them over and over again.

* The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa
* Haunting Emma series by Lee Nichols
* Always a Witch series by Carolyn MacCullough
* The Prophecy of the Sisters series by Michelle Zink
* The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater
* The Forest of Hands & Teeth series by Carrie Ryan
* The Maze Runner series by James Dashner
* Devil's Kiss series by Sarwat Chadda
* The Lunarmorte Series by Samantha Young

Along with this farewell, there were some new series from some of our favorite established authors that started this year. Here's some of our favorite new series released this year:
  1. The Pledge by Kimberly Derting
  2. The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell
  3. The Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
  4. Delirium by Lauren Oliver
  5. Sweet Venom by Terra Lynn Childs
  6. Unleashed by Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie
  7. This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein by Kenneth Oppel

The Piano Guys: Stars Wars Parody

This has nothing to do with a book, but I had to share my latest addiction. You know in the midst of chaos, the big holiday to do list and the kids being home from school we sometimes need a "little break". This was my sanity saver the other night (insert laughing). This is one of those videos I have seriously watched one too many times. I'm in awe over this guy's talent. Plus what Star Wars fan wouldn't love this...

Twitter Tuesday - kara-lija's Artwork

Sweet Decadence by kara-lija.

We're huge fans of kara-lija's art and she posted this yesterday and well, yeah, I mean whoa, look at that captured emotion.

So happy holidays #TeamJem, Mundie Moms. Happy holidays, indeed. Thank you kara-lija for creating some of the most beautiful fanart we've seen. No, I'm not looking at how their hands are clasped. Nope. Okay...yes, wow...*stares some more*. If you go to her deviantart link, you can maximize the picture, just be prepared to stop breathing for a second or two.
