It's OFFICIAL- Jace Has Been Cast!

We can finally announce that the casting for Jace is done. Jamie Bower will be playing Jace in the upcoming movie, The Mortal Instruments Series. Jamie was in the top of Cassie's list of contenders, and she tweeted last week that she thought he'd do a great job at playing Jace. We're very excited to hear Jace has been cast and we're looking to hearing who the rest of the cast will be.

* I wanted to add what Cassie just emailed to her google group*
Yes. Jamie Campbell-Bower is Jace. And I am very happy about it. More info later. :)
We're looking forward to seeing what Jamie will bring to Jace's character on the big screen. Be sure to follow Cassie's blog, she'll be posting about the casting soon. You can also find her updated casting page here. We're rest assured by the casting choice knowing that Cassie is thrilled with the choice, and at the end of the day that's all that matters.

Has Jace Been Cast?

We normally do not comment on any book or movie rumors unless we have confirmed with the source (ie. Cassie, Simon & Schuster or Screen Gems) that they are true. Today Twitter is a buzz with the news that Screen Gems has cast Jamie Bower as Jace. We've received a lot of comments about this on Twitter, which stemmed from this article here and here, asking us what we thought.

Here's what we know, that as of right now this is a RUMOR. It's a rumor because we have not heard or read a confirmation on this from Screen Gems. We have refrained from commenting on casting until we've heard official news from the studio. I have always pictured someone like Alex P as Jace. As I said on Twitter, Jamie is not who I pictured as Jace, BUT that does not mean Jamie or whomever is cast can't become Jace on the big screen. I'm not big on comparing things to Twilight, but a lot of people complained about Rob becoming Edward and then ended up loving him for how well he portrayed him on the big screen.

MM's is a team divided, Sophie has said for awhile now that she would love to see Jamie play Jace. I will say that just because Jamie or whomever is cast as Jace is not who I pictured, doesn't mean he can't do a great job with bringing Jace to life. I'm going to trust Screen Gems knows who will fit the part well.

Here's a picture of Jamie with runes that makes him look a bit more Jace like. You can find the picture here. What do you guys think?

Either way, I am anxiously awaiting some sort of casting news. I can't wait to see TMI on the big screen. Please remember to be respectful in your comments :)

Book Review/Blog Tour- The Eternal Sea

Published by Scholastic
To Be Released on June 1st, 2011
Source- ARC from publisher for blog tour/published book for review
4.5 stars- I really enjoyed

Romance and adventure are just around the corner . . .

After the thrilling journey that led Camille through the dangerous discovery of love, secrets, and a magical stone that grants immortality, Camille has everything she wants. She's escaped the men who wanted her dead, and now she is ready to build a new life with Oscar, her one true love. But things are not to be so simple. Oscar is acting strangely, and before they can even board a ship from Australia back home, to San Francisco, Camille learns that the journey is not over. If she does not follow the magic of the curse of Umandu, her life and Ocar's could be in grave danger (quoted from Goodreads)

The Eternal Sea is a fantastic sequel to Angie's debut Everlasting. I was completely surprised with how quickly I was taken right back into the story. There's more danger, deceit and a well written love triangle that left me just as confused as Camille.

The Eternal Sea picks up right where Everlasting ends. I liked that this story has more of a edge to it and it's a little bit darker than Everlasting. There's a darker side to the legend surrounding the stones that's revealed, and Camille begins to understand that her actions at the end of Everlasting have serious consequences. Within the few pages Angie thrust me right back into Camille's world, as she struggles with her feelings for Oscar, and why he's acting so strange and to make matters more confusing, Randall arrives. That's just the beginning of Camille's adventures.

The characters are just as fabulous as they were in Everlasting. I thought Angie did a great job at showing Camille's inner struggle from her guilt, her keeping things from Randall, and her struggles with her decisions and her feelings for Oscar and Randall. She became more relatable to me. Randall and Oscar were two characters that I felt torn between, though I'll admit I really loved Randall this time around. His character has grown the most for me, and become more in-depth. I felt that all three characters had so much to endure that allowed me to understand them more on some level.

There are many things I love about this series. The unique paranormal elements, the magic, the well written romance, the setting, the time period and of course the adventure on the high seas. There is a lot of action, danger and the suspense is one of the things that makes Angie's books so hard to put down. If you haven't already read Everlasting, I suggest reading it before you pick up The Eternal Sea. Just in time for your summer reading, I highly recommend picking up this fantastic historical fiction. On a side note, can I say how much I love the cover. This cover is a perfect fit for the story, with the illustrations and the coloring. It really sets the tone for the story.

We Heart Indies

May 31st has now been dubbed "We Heart Indies" Day thank you to Lisa and Laura Roecker. I am so excited to be taking part in this fun blog event.

I love going into book stores, especially Indie ones. They have that certain smell, and a feel about them that is unique and inviting. I don't know about you, but I love the smell of books. It doesn't matter if it's a new book or an old book, there's just something about the smell of a book that I love. Indie book stores have that smell to them. Which isn't surprising since they have vast collections of books that not only supports local authors, but a large number of authors for most every genre you can think of.

One of the things I love most about my local Indie store, Book People, are the large number of author events they host. They've held huge gathering from the Smart Chicks Kick It Tour, to local author Rick Riordan, to supporting the local book festivals for both the Austin Teen Book Festival and the TX Book Festival, and every thing in between. They are extremely supportive of all the authors who come to town and of the local author events. It's not just their vast collection of books I can find in their store or the large number of author events they've hosted that makes me love them, it's also the people that work there that I've been able to get to know. They are just as supportive of us, as we are to them. I love it when a book store becomes more than a store, they become a friend and that's why I Heart My Local Indie Book Store.

I want to know what local Indie store you love and why. GIVEAWAY- Leave us a comment with your name and email address letting us know what your favorite Indie Store is and why, and you'll be entered to win one of the SIGNED books I'll be picking up from Harper Teen's The Dark Days of Supernatural Tour next week at Book People.

Twitter Tuesday - Julie Kagawa

Just a reminder that TOMORROW, June 1st, we all get to download Julie's Summer Crossing, yes, the Puck point-of-view e-novella which will help with the wait until The Iron Knight is released.

Julie tweeted the last of the teasers last week. So here it is just to give us a taste:
"Worry not, ice-boy. I already have a plan.” I flashed him my best impish smile, rubbing my hands together. “One brilliant Goodfellow prank, coming right up.”
Here's a link to Julie's blog where I'm sure she'll be posting links to the e-novella. Are you looking forward to this as much as I am, Mundie Moms??
