Twitter Tuesday - Underworld Ball Presented by NYMBC and Books, Inc.

Last night, I attended the Underworld Ball tour stop with Holly and Cassie and let me just say that Books, Inc at Opera Plaza and the fabulous girls of Not Your Mother's Book Club certainly know how to put on a well organized and fun event.

Those who attended enjoyed a Q&A with Cassie, Holly and their special guest star, Ted Naifeh, the illustrator of Holly's Good Neighbors series. Holly read two excerpts from Red Glove, including one riveting Kissy Scene, at the end of which the very appreciative audience let out a loud, audible sigh. Cassie, who braved laryingitis had a fan read the Prologue from Clockwork Prince. Mundie Moms, glance up at that Countdown Ticker underneath our banner, because in that many days we will be swept away to the dark alleys of Victorian London...with Will. And now, yes, I hear your loud, audible sighs.

Also included in all that fun was a costume contest. I snapped a couple of pictures with my phone camera and the quality of the photos doesn't do the costumes justice. People were dressed as steampunk characters and fairies. It was like getting a glimpse into Holly's and Cassie's world for a few moments.

If you get a chance to catch Cassie and Holly on their tour, you will find out why this Mundie Mom drove four hours over Donner Pass (yes, that one) with three kids and a very patient husband -- the chance to catch up with fellow fans and chat with Cassie, Holly and Ted was worth every minute of the road trip. I didn't even need my stamina rune.

If you're in the Bay Area and will be attending the Kepler's event tonight, please say "hi" to me. I'm the mom with the kids, clutching all the Spiderwick books. After hearing about my event last night, the kids are looking forward to it. And I may just need that stamina rune, after all.

Made From Awesome Chat Author Spotlight- Beth Revis

I'm very excited to introduce you to Beth Revis! One of our favorite debut authors from last year. We're huge fans of her debut, Across the Universe and can't wait to read her sequel.

Here's a little bit about Beth,
she was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. She started writing in high school and her favorite author is C.S. Lewis. She enjoys books that explore new worlds, discover new magics or delve into different lives of interesting people (quoted from here). Before becoming a full time author, Beth was a teacher. And we're all envious (in a good way) to learn that Beth did her study abroad in London, which I'm sure like Sophie many of us would ask her if she ever met Ben Barnes. You can find out more about Beth by visiting her site here.

We are so excited to chat with Beth this week! Beth will be chatting with us, along with Julia DeVillers, Claudia Gabel, Helene Boudreau, Cyn Balog, Brenna Yavonoff, Sarwat Chadda, Andrea Cremer on Thursday night under #YALITCHAT on twitter. After the chat we'll be having an AFTER PARTY here on MMs!!!

Wings Read Along Day 1- Chapters 1-3

Welcome to Day 1 in our Wings Read Along! If you haven't already, please be sure to download your FREE ebook of Wings from one of these sites here-

Today we'll be discussing chapters 1-3.

1) Chapter 1 we met Laurel. Laurel has been home schooled and now she's attending a new school. Was it easy for your to relate to Laurel's feelings of starting a new school? Can you relate to Laurel being in a new environment not knowing any one?

2) Chapter 2 we meet David and Chelsea, Laurel's new friends. What were your first thoughts about them? They become Laurel's closest friends through out the series. Are you still close with friends you had in high school?

3) Chapter 3 David and Laurel. David and Laurel spend some time together and go for a walk in the woods. They both open up more to each other. What are your thoughts about David?

Tomorrow we're looking forward to talking about chapters 5-7.

Enclave Blog Tour- Interview with Ann Aguirre

I'm excited to have Ann Aguirre, author of Enclave which is in stores TODAY on our blog! You can read my review for Enclave here.

How would you describe Enclave?
It's a dark, gritty dystopian novel with plenty of action, thrills, and a touch of romance.

Why do you think there's a recent growing trend in YA Dystopian books?
I think it's because they're uplifting. No, seriously. You take a world in utter disarray. Things are incredibly bleak. Then a hero arises, someone who has the desire and drive to succeed, no matter what. And this person changes his or her world in some fashion. How can that message not be incredibly valuable to young adults? I think it lends hope that there can always be brightness, no matter how dark it seems.

Which character surprised you the most in terms of their development?
Stalker, without a doubt. He's not so much a villain as a survivor. And he surprised me even more in book two, OUTPOST.

What author has been an inspiration to you as an author?
Sharon Shinn. She is talented, kind, gracious, and so modest about her own brilliance.

Do you have any recent books you've read that you're recommend to our followers?
Sooo many. But two of my favorite YA authors, new discoveries to me, are Rachel Hawkins and Jessica Verday. Love their books. They should be a hit with anyone who enjoys paranormal.
