Interview with Low Red Moon author, Ivy Devlin

Today we are excited to have Ivy Devlin, author of Low Red Moon visiting with us. Here's a synopsis of her book:

Her parents are dead. She can't remember what happened. And now she's in love with the most dangerous creature in the forest.

The only think Avery Hood can remember about the night her parents died is that she saw silver-deadly silver, moving inhumanly fast. As much as she wants to remember who killed them, she can't, and there's nothing left to do but try to piece her life back together.

Then Avery meets the new boy in school-Ben, mysterious and beautiful, with whom she feels a connection like nothing she's ever experienced. Ben is a werewolf, but Avery trust him-at first. Then she sees that sometimes his eyes flash an inhuman silver. And she learns that she's not the only one who can't remember the night her parents died.

Part murder mystery, part grief narrative, and part heart-stopping, headlong romance,Low Red Moon is a must read for teen paranormal fans. A powerful YA voice makers her debut with this breathless, spooky novel- a book to be devoured in on sitting. (taken from book's back cover).

I am a huge wolf girl fan and really enjoyed reading Low Red Moon. What do you find most fascinating about your wolves?
Well, Ben is really cute :-) But aside from that, I really liked being able to make up my own werewolf mythology.

I really loved the the setting and that The Forest was it's own character in Low Red Moon. What inspired you to create such a unique character?
Total accident! I knew the forest would play a role in the book--since the story was inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, how could it not?--but it wasn't until I started writing that I realized the forest was going to play a much, much bigger role in the book. And in Avery's life!

I liked getting to know Avery's Grandmother. What did you most admire about her character?
I love Renee! I guess if I had to pick one thing I like best, it would be how strong she is.

I loved the connection Avery has with the forest. What inspired you to write about that connection?
Again, total accident--when I first wrote certain spoilery bits, I thought, what is this? But I figured I'd just go for it. And I'm really glad I did because I thought it added a lot to Avery.

Are there any paranormal books you've read recently that you're recommend we pick up and read?
I'm a huge fan of Melissa de la Cruz's Blue Bloods series--in fact, if I ever get through my current deadline, I've got her latest waiting for me to read! I also like Cassie Clare's books a lot.

Thoughtful Thursday- Harry Potter

I went back and forth about posting something uplifting, or posting something fun, and with the midnight releases of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hollows, which is HUGE for so many people, I thought it would be fun to post about something fun. Today's post is about Harry Potter & The Harry Potter Alliance.

While the rest of the Mundie Moms Admin team have all read and loves the Harry Potter series, I have yet to finish all the books (ducks from the flying objects) I know! Shocking. I'm on book 4 and I wasn't planning on seeing the movie until I finished reading all the books, as for me, if I see the movie before I read the book I often times won't read the book (case in point Harry Potter). BUT, now with tonight's release I may have to go watch the movie before I read the book...

We want to know what kind of traditions do you have to celebrate the release of Harry Potter? Do you keep your kids home from school and get dressed up as your favorite character before you go out tonight? Do you have a Harry Potter movie marathon? Do you make up some of the food that they serve at Hogwarts? What is it that you do and what are you most looking forward tonight? What is your favorite movie and/or our favorite book out of the series?

Speaking of Harry Potter, if you donate $40 to The Harry Potter Alliance, you will be entered to win a set of the Harry Potter books signed by J.K. Rowling!! We've featured this amazing organization before on Mundie Moms, but if you're not familiar with them, be sure to visit their site here http://thehpalliance.org/ They do so much in the way of giving back to the community nationally and world wide.
