The Dark Divine Movie!?

Did you hear the news!?! The Dark Divine film rights have been sold!! That doesn't mean the movie will be made, but it the start of what we here on Mundie Moms hope will become a movie.

Here's a quote from Bree's site:
"Ralph Winter ("X-Men") and Terry Botwick are turning to "The Dark Divine," acquiring rights through their 1019 Entertainment banner to Bree Despain's three-book young adult series.

Whitney Thomas, an exec at 1019, will also produce.

First tome, titled "The Dark Divine" and published last December by Egmont USA, centers on a 16-year-old pastor's daughter who falls in love with a boy who reveals he's a werewolf. Second title, "The Lost Saint," is scheduled to be released on Dec. 28; the third, untitled book is skedded for publication in late 2011.

Deal comes seven months after Winter and Botwick snagged feature rights to Dean Koontz's "Frankenstein," his bestselling tale of a socially prominent and successful businessman and his superhuman original creation in modern-day New Orleans (Daily Variety, Feb. 16).

"The project has strong romantic appeal to the young 'Twilight' audience," Winter and Botwick said. "Bree Despain is a talented voice with a loyal following."

CONGRATULATIONS Bree!! We are so excited for you!!

Shannon Delany Introduces Us To Max

Shannon Delany has treated our Mundie Mom forum members to a Max post!! Here's a little teaser-
"Maximilian = Max = More (Ya’all know I didn’t choose names willy-nilly for 13 to Life.)

Max is my hot boy. My bad boy. God, I love him! ;-) (Okay, I’ll always love Pietr, but Max sorta has that x-factor.)

He’s got a broader build, he’s taller, he’s much more blatant about flirting and enjoying things about the female of the species. He’s my sexy senior. In short, Max is more than the sum of all the signals Pietr sends. Max has a reputation and in that very personal talk Jess and Pietr have (and thanks to Max’s earlier displays), readers should get the feeling Max left his virginity behind a while ago. He’s thought about what girls like and he uses it to his advantage (which proves, although his siblings might argue, Max is no idiot). His wavy dark hair gives him more of a tousled look (which instinctively makes women wonder what he was just doing that got him mussed)."

You can read the rest of the post, and see an artist drawing of Max in Shannon's post here in our Mundie Moms Writing Forum-http://mundiemoms.freeforums.org/writing-101-with-shannon-delany-f133.html

Book Review- Greek, Double Date

By Marsha Warner
Published by Harlequin Teen
Released May 1st, 2010

4 stars- It's a Good Read

Major oops. When Casey Cartwright's brother begs her to be nerdy Dale Kettlewell's date to the sure-to-be-boring Honors Engineering Awards, Casey says yes. Even though Dale is totally not her type… and might have a crush on her. Ugh. But it's a nice thing to do, and Casey's always been the "nice" girl.
But now, that night conflicts with the biggest event of the semester, the All-Greek formal. Casey already has a date lined up: hot transfer student Rob Howell. He's her plan to get over her sexy-slacker ex, Cappie. And even nice girls get to be bad sometimes, right?

What to do? With a little help from BFF Ashleigh, unwanted advice from frenemy Rebecca Logan and even a push from Cappie, what Casey does may surprise even herself….

I was completely surprised that I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. Normally I don't find myself getting into books like this, but I credit the fantastic writing by Marsha Warner for that. Greek, which is based on the popular TV series, is a light hearted, engaging read. I never once felt confused about what was going on and enjoyed all of the character interactions. I've not watched an episode of Greek, but I can only imagine the writing style is very similar to sitting down and watching an episode of it.

I was totally shocked when ZBZ sorority girl, Casey Cartwright agreed to be engineering nerd, Dale's date to the Honors Engineering Awards. Which she agreed to after her brother Rusty's relentless begging, as he couldn't have is fraternity brother going dateless. The night after she has a date with the hot new transfer student, Rob, who also have a history with Rebecca, to the All Greek Formal.

After an unfortunate event happens, the Honors Engineering Awards are canceled and moved to the following night, which happens to be the formal. Now Casey, who's trying to find out what kind of history Rob and Rebecca have, has to decided what the right thing is to do. Ditch Dale or cancel on Rob. What I like most about Casey's character, is she's always trying to do the nice thing for everyone.

I've never been apart of sorority, but enjoyed being apart of it of Greek's. Greek is a quick, fun read. While the characters aren't in-depth, they're a lot of fun getting to know. If you're looking for a fast past read, with fun characters, then I recommend picking up Greek.
